We had a fabulous visit out to Brookfields Farm last week. Our trip took us an hour from Gisborne on the bus and 46 of our Takitimu Syndicate children were very excited to get to see the cows and calves on the farm.

Our adventure included feeding the calves, riding on the milking platform and watching the cows being milked. We also got to talk to the Fonterra truck driver about his tanker! Farmer Hamish and all his staff were very accommodating to us and even his little dog Ruby enjoyed having us there.

We had a picnic lunch, played some games and got to drink our milk we took with us. When we got back we made butter to taste and we wrote some stories about where milk comes from.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect (apart from the smell that some children couldn’t get over) and we want to thank you for giving our students an awesome learning experience which I’m sure they’ll remember for a long time!
