We’re proud to be able to offer you this Farming Kit. It was developed in conjunction with our education partner SchoolKit. To learn more about how to use the different components and discover many supporting resources, visit the School Kit website.

The Farming Kit contains:

• 1 x Story Card - Fiona and the Very Bad Storm

• 1 x Key Word List in English and Te Reo Māori with 50 high-frequency and topic-specific words.

• 1 x Beautiful illustration (A2 size) that contextualises the key words and supports the story.

• 1 x Poem - Thunder

• 1 x Waiata - Ka Tangi te Kuri E about all the sounds of the farm. (The sound file can be found at the kit website so you can sing along at home)

• 4 x Tasks for independent learning. Task cards are designed to be read in two parts. Part 1 provides a child-centred task. Part 2 gives adult helpers background, tips, tricks and suggestions for how to extend and enrich  the experience.

• 3 x Concept Cards put three important ideas related to the kit into plain English. Our aim is to leave you feeling informed and well read before you begin the role of teacher with your kids.

• 44 x Maths tokens - Create patterns, solve problems, make mathematical statements, sort, categorise, compare, play shops, exchange as coins or use as memory aids.

• 15 x ‘Great Question Cards’: Open ended questions with no right answer are the best way to get kids talking, reasoning, laughing and arguing.

• 15 x Thing + That + For cards are designed to give students infinite combinations of things to invent and build (along with a bit of silliness).

• 12 x Connector Cards give you 24 words connected with the language of describing, time, categorising and sorting.

• 20 x Story telling cards. Use them to retell the original story,  to inspire a new story, to sequence events, in oral language or to promote word recognition.

• 1 x supporting website with sound files, videos, playlists, podcasts, suggestions for books that you can find to support the theme.
